Empowering Health: EMPS Group of Schools Champions Local Healthcare through Charity Funfair 2025-2026

In a heartening display of community spirit and social responsibility, the EMPS Group of Schools has translated the success of its Charity Funfair (2025–2026) into a significant lifeline for Yangon’s healthcare sector.

The initiative culminated on January 27, 2026, with substantial donations to two of the city's most vital medical institutions: the 500-bedded Specialty Hospital and Yangon General Hospital.

A Gift of Hope for Kidney Patients

The first major contribution was directed to the 500-bedded Specialty Hospital, a cornerstone for advanced nephrology and organ transplant services in Myanmar. Recognizing the critical need for specialized medicine in treating chronic conditions, EMPS donated:

  • Total Monetary Value: 12,000,000 Kyats (Twelve Million Kyats)
  • Purpose: To support the treatment and medication of 1,000 kidney patients.

By alleviating the financial burden on patients, the school is directly contributing to higher survival rates and better qualities of life for thousands of families.

Advancing Cancer Care at Yangon General Hospital

Simultaneously, the EMPS community extended its support to the Oncology Department (Cancer Ward) at Yangon General Hospital. Cancer treatment remains one of the most resource-intensive medical challenges in the region, and access to chemotherapy drugs is often a barrier for many.

Under the guidance of Professor Phyu Phyu Theint, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, the hospital received:

  • Paclitaxel 260mg: 50 vials.
  • Impact: Paclitaxel is a critical chemotherapy medication used to treat ovarian, breast, and non-small cell lung cancer. A donation of 50 vials of the high-strength 260mg dose (worth 10,000,000 Kyats (Ten Million Kyats) provides a significant stock of life-saving medicine for patients undergoing intensive treatment regimens.

Education Meets Social Impact

The annual Funfair is more than just a school event; it is an educational cornerstone that teaches students the value of philanthropy and civic duty. Every year, students participate in stage performances, art gallery, and various stalls, with the collective goal of giving back to the country.

"All proceeds from the funfair are donated to nonprofit organizations that focus on the welfare of our country," the school stated. "It is about teaching our students that their efforts can truly save lives."

The Road Ahead

The success of the 2025–2026 Charity Funfair highlights the power of collective action. By bridging the gap between education and healthcare, EMPS Group of Schools has set a high standard for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the academic community.

As these medicines and funds reach the wards of Yangon’s specialty hospitals, they carry with them the hard work of students and the generosity of the our EMPS family—proving that a community's greatest investment is the health of its people.
